How to Get a Year's Supply in 52 weeks or Less

We are hopeful that each of you will choose to put away a year's supply of food, clothing, fuel and money as we have been counseled to do. We want you to be prepared physically, financially, spiritually and intellectually for the challenges that life can offer.

This weekly program has been designed to get you the essentials in an inexpensive and systematic way. When following this plan you will purchase one item a week. All of the amounts are for one person for one year. Be sure to mark your items with permanent marker showing the date of purchase and expiration date, so you can keep your items properly rotated.

1st week - Can opener

The first item is a can opener to be taped inside a box of dry pack, so that if there were an earthquake, you do not have to sift through the rubble to find a can opener to use your food storage.

Here are examples of two types of can openers found at Emergency Essentials. You can also find them for around $3 at WalMart.

Small can opener $0.50

Heavy Duty Can Opener $11.95

  1. The Dollar Store is also a good place to buy a can opener! That's where I got mine and I duct taped it to the wall by my food storage.
