Week 3 Challenge - Salt

It is recommended to have 5 lbs of salt with iodine per person. So this week at the grocery store pick up about 4 round containers per person.

There have been two questions asked about salt. Click here Salt Information to visit a great website that will give you more information on why you need to store salt. You do want the salt to have iodine. I am assuming that if it doesn't say that it has iodine, it probably doesn't. You can always call the manufacturer.

There was also a question about how salt relates to radiation. Here are two websites that will give you more information on that topic Salt and radiation and Salt and radiation.

  1. Costco has a 25 lb. bag for $3.45, but it doesn't say if it's Iodized or not. Does anyone know?

  2. What is the idea behind all this salt. Radiation wise? Is it better to buy in bulk or small canisters.

  3. So what I'm getting out if this is we are using salt for consumption use. Since it appears that salt w/iodine does not have a huge impact on decreasing radiation. And it might be a good idea to stock up on the potassium iodine pills in case of radiation?
